How to Skip German Winter

This year I decided to skip a substantial part of the cold, grey and dark February and leave Germany for warmer locations. And since I have not really had a ‘holiday’ in the last few years this one had to be worth it 🙂

First station on the journey was Boracay, a small Philippine island in the pacific. If you want to check it out on a map look no further then Google Maps: Boracay. White beaches, palm, clear turquoise water and plenty of sun (enough to be burned in a very short time).

We stayed near near Station 1 in the Boracay Beach Club. It’s a nice little hotel with direct access to the beach (through Ariel’s House). Room was clean and the staff is very friendly. Maybe it doesn’t win the ‘most affordable’ award during high season, but it is certainly recommended if you look for a place to stay without being woken up by party goers at 3am. The special gem as part of the activities is a day tour to Ariel’s point, a remote place, built into the cliffs of a neighboring island. Definitely a must-do when you go there (it is also available to non hotel guest).

In Boracay you can engage in a lot of beach and water related activities. We have done the banana boat (boooring, yawn), scuba diving (worth doing), parasailing (a must), sailing (especially nice during sunset) and finishing off with a massage. Aside from this, I managed to got sick and had to stay down for two days 🙁 Pictures from parasailing and scuba diving are here:
